Tuesday May 2  Leave


Wednesday May 3 Arrive in Brazil.   Stay at Morro das Pedras Clube and Hotel.  https://morrodaspedras.com/


Thursday May 4  Orphanage/health clinic half day.  Other half of day go to the lake (Lagoa do Peri)/ play on the

beach/ hike Ribeirao da Ilha.  The Lago do Peri is a freshwater lake which is a 10 minute walk

from the hotel.  The beach is right behind the hotel.  The Ribeirao da Ilha hike is a strenuous

hike that starts at the lake.  It goes a mile and a half up the mountain to the viewpoint that looks

over Floripa, then a half mile down to the Ribeirao da Ilha neighborhood.  Can catch the bus back

to the hotel.

Friday May 5 Observe dental surgeries in hospitals.


Saturday May 6 Hike Lagoinha do Leste.  This is a gorgeous secluded beach that is only accessible by hiking,

no roads lead to it.  Take bus/Uber to Matadeiro Beach, then hike 2 ½ miles along the coast to

Lagoinha do Leste beach.  Play on the beach, climb up to the Corona on the hillside.  When done

playing on the beach, hike over the hillside 1 mile to town, then catch a bus back to the hotel.

Sunday May 7  Free day.  I will be attending the Rio Tavares ward meeting at 9:30am, anyone

can come with me if they want.


Monday May 8  UFSC Nursing department.  Meet and greet with faculty and students/lab simulation/

tour hospital and public health clinic/student and faculty presentations


Tuesday May 9 UFSC Nursing department.  Meet and greet with faculty and students/lab simulation/

tour hospital and public health clinic/student and faculty presentations


Wednesday May 10 UFSC Nursing department.  Meet and greet with faculty and students/lab simulation/

tour hospital and public health clinic/student and faculty presentations


Thursday May 11 Leave Brazil


Friday May 12 Arrive home


Options for free time:

Take boat out to Campeche Island.  Morro das Pedras beach.  Lagoa do Peri lake.  Kayak rental from Armacao, which is a beach just south of Morro das Pedras.  Go into Florianopolis city to shop public market.  Hike around Lagoa da Conceicao and take water taxi back to starting point.  Rent surfboard and get a surfing lesson at Escola de Surf do Biano in Armacao.
